Change of address

Hi gang, I'm sure someone here can answer this simple question.
I am the proud possessor of a PPL,A. It is a 'proper' one, valid for life as issued to me back in 1989.
Since this time I have moved home, and now wonder what the position is with the powers to be re the address shown on the Licence.
Would they issue another (FOC as they already took over £100 first time round), and if so, will it STILL be a proper one, or would a printed sheet showing the present location placed inside the front cover suffice?
That reminds me, must tell the DVLA too...I believe that one is free for change of address.

I'll tell you for sure in a day or two, but essentially it's no problem. I changed address a couple of times after issue and had a new bit of paper issued each time. This will be the first post JAR, but I'm sure it will be the same licence they send back ... plus shiney new TMG rating as applied for as well :) ... be nice if they made a mistake and added a CPL, ATPL, IR ect (but that kind of luck only happens to other people .... sighs  )

it sounds like you have the older style of licence. once you apply for the change of address, you will still have the "proper" lifetime licence, but it is reissued in the new computerised style.

Summat doesn't compute here.

My CAA PPL, issued in 1982, doesn't have an address on it. I've moved a couple of times since it was issued, and just told the CAA the new address. No new paperwork was needed.

My CAA PPL issued in 1991 does have address, so I guess that bit came in some time in the 80's?

My PPL(A) was issued in 1998, and is an old CAA lifetime one. My CPL(H) was issued in 2001, and is a JAA licence. I moved house in January this year, told the CAA, and received the relevant new pages for each. I didn't have to send the licences back, and in both cases nothing else changed.

But here's something interesting that I only just noticed. They sent me a new radio telephony licence page, with my new address. This expires in 2011. but I just noticed that I still have an old RT licence page in my PPL(A), which is valid for life. It still has my old address on it. Maybe I'm not supposed to have two RT licences. But, if I don't renew the JAA one in 2011, is the old one still valid, I wonder.
