old sarum
sherburn compton abbass where else is a must visit airfield down south? for planning purposes....... |
Sandown, Duxford, Eaglescott are all places i've enjoyed visiting!
|
all GA friendly and no commercial hassles such as orbiting and security scrutiny that happened to a chap at blackpool recently posted on here?
|
In no particular order:
White Waltham - EGLM Andrewsfield - EGSL Headcorn (aka Lashenden) -EGKH All three have great settings and a friendly clubhouse ! ...... and if you're looking for excitement then try Lundy Island  |
Assuming you mean 'Merrie Engerland' and airfields therein only then:-
Scilly Isles - hard Lands End - grass Lundy Island -grass Isle of Wight (Sandown) - grass Wellesbourne (for Stratford) - hard Cromer (for Cromer) - grass Sheffield - hard (& God's Own Country) h-r;) |
Assuming you mean this country (the UK and CI)
(a) Dundee (b) Alderney (c) Oban (d) Peranporth (sp?) |
The man said England ...
|
Sorry (from me) he did.
In that case Peranporth is top of my list! Just the approach over the cliffs - beautiful!! |
North weald, plenty of nice aircraft to look at.
You may even see Flash(probably see his hair first!):} |
popham.
very friendly club. interesting approach/departure and runway! |
Bournemouth for the approach and taxiing past 747s and KC-10's parked alongside. North Weald for the bacon buttie and howl of a Vampire being fired up.
|
Old Warden
|
Swansea for the lovely scenery and beaches of the Gower
Haverfordwest for the welcome and as a fuelling stop for Ireland (plus the scenery) OK, OK I know they are in Wales not England!!! |
Kemble - including the AV8 restaurant
|
Must visits
White Waltham for the pure variety of aircraft to be seen there, the aeros practices in the overhead and a good choice of grub whilst you're watching.
.............and an airfield with a helluva history. |
Go to Eggesford, not Eaglescott. Not saying any more.

Hello All I'd just like to Point out that Oaksey is now strictly PPR as They have a movements Limit due to planning. The only Exception to this is for the two Fly In's per year they're allowed. So If you do decide to visit Please give Dick Thrush the airfield manager a ring before you set out. ( The number's in Pooleys etc)
If you're looking for somewhere to visit next weekend why not drop into the Wiltshire Flyers Fly In on Sunday 17th September. (see new thread for details) ;) |
