Lake Como float flying again
I know there have been a lot of posts on this before.
I have just been down there and did an hour in a 172 and an hour in the PA18 on amphibs. Super experience, marvellous place, great atmosphere, nice instructors, very welcoming. If in doubt, go and do it -- you won't rgeret it. You can pull up to the beach at Hotel San Giorgio in Lenno and have a drink or lunch. They have 172s on straight floats -- dogs, esp in the heat PA18-150 with a 180hp on amphibs -- lovely Bird Dog on straight floats -- must be super Lake Renegades It's the only place of its kind in Europe. I'll second that:
I had a very entertaining hour in C172 I-SAAB a few years ago: Two things bothered me: 1) No power checks as such as no brakes Just a kinda rolling power check-cum-takeoff. 2) Base leg /final into the aeroclub over Como town: absoloodle nowhere to go if the fan stops. I wanted a trip in the Lake but it was tech at the time and IIRC subsequently ended up at the botom of Lake Como. Thoroughly worthwhile visit to the Aeroclub if you're in the area. Cusco:ok: |
