Airfield near Dundalk RoI?

Can anyone suggest a suitable airfield to fly to close to Dundalk in the RoI?

Thanks

Nothing too close with a descent runway.

How much runway do you need?

I'll check my flight guide this evening to see if there is anything with a short runway around.

Thanks very much. Most likely to be a C152, a Warrior or an Arrow. Would need at least 600m if possible.

EGBK,
Nothing too close I'm afraid.

Closest is a farm grass strip called Dowth Hall. It's 1000m. There are no facilities there. It's marked in the flight guide as "Surface may be rough". I can pm you a contact number if you need it.

Seven Parks Farm is another grass farm strip, of 670m.

Next nearest would appear to be Trim, which is 580m of grass.

Looking into Northern Ireland, there is a grass farm strip of 730m at Portadown known as Tarsan Lane. It's shown on my map as "Tarsan".

If you want contact numbers, pm me. As they are private individual numbers, I don't really want to post them on the forumn.

None are close I'm afraid, and you're unlikely to be able to get a hire car delivered to any of them.

You could also try the Mourne Flying Club which is about 15 minutes drive east of Warrenpoint (which in turn is 25 minutes north of Dundalk).

STRICTLY PPR. Best described as "rough in places". Being bang up to date on STOL techniques is important. Normally only allows taildraggers, they have welcomed tri-gear when it is dry (like now).

PM me if you want the details.

Thanks very much for your efforts - much appreciated. Curse work for not putting offices closer to a usable airfield!

Given the limitations of each suggestion, I think I'll abandon the idea of flying over this time and probably take the 'bike instead (nearly as much fun!)

Thanks again.
