PPL (A) Night rating
Hi,
I've had a PPL night rating since 2003 now but don't use it much. Is there a validity period on the night rating similar to the 12 month validity of an IMC or is it valid for life without need for renewal? |
for life, but you have to do the 3 takeoffs / landings watsits in 90 days before taking pax with you....
|
do those 3 t/o and landings have to be at night and/or with an instructor?
|
At night, instructor not required but sensible if you haven't done it in a while!
|
To clarify;
To carry passengers you need to have completed 3 take-off and landings in the last 90 days. To carry passengers at night 1 of those take-offs and landings needs to have been done at night. If one holds a valid IR then this is not required. An instructor is not required but it would be a very good idea. Regards, DFC |
Excellent thanks for the feedback

Again, funny to compare the FAA PPL which requires three takeoffs and landings at night, before one can carry passengers at night.
