Help with headset connectors

I'd like to make a converter from a standard twin plug headset to 3.5mm plugs. Unfortunately in electronic component shops I can only find 1/4" connectors while the headset has different sized connectors. Can anyone tell me what I need to look for and where I may find it? Thanks

Regards,
Mak

The headphone plug is a standard.25" stereo/mono headphone jack. But the mic is a 0.205" PL-068 jack that you won't find at Maplins, RS etc.

You should try a specialist avionics supplier for these. Adams at Biggin Hill comes to mind, but I'm sure there are plenty of others.

The Aircraft Spruce online catalogue will also likely have the required bits.

Mak,

what are you trying to do?

1 Use an aviation headset on something else? or,

2. Connect a non standard headset to an aircraft?

The headphone side is easy to deal with but the microphone on an aviation headset is high output, with a DC feed on the microphone line, to drive either an old Carbon Mic or an Amplified Electret or Dynamic mike. You cannot use an unamplified dynamic mic as it won't have enough output and will need isolating from the DC supply.
