c182 overvoltage
 
One of the guys at our field has had a few electrical problems. The alternator control unit cuts in above 1000rpm giving a Lo Volts light. The POH describes this as an overvoltage condition.
What are the common causes for this sort of thing?

Probably the regulator.

Or a failed diode in the rectifier.
