Gawn, give us a clue where it is......There must be a catch:sad:

BRL 13th Aug 2005 21:21

No, don't give a clue please. This kind of post could easily be pulled for fear of starting an advertising free for all. Very tempted to move it purely for the above reason alone but I can't bare the hassle so I will leave it in here with a note asking people NOT to mention their flying schools when talking about prices..........

The only thing I would be suspicious about is that the VAT registration limit is turnover of £60,000 per annum after which they MUST register for VAT. At £83 per hour this equates to 14 hours per week instruction?

Is this about right? Just asking.

Cheers

good luck, that is indeed cheap! BUT, I for one can't see it lasting so whatever you do, DONT PAY UPFRONT because you may well end up in tears!

In that case student your paying far too much a Uk charter airlines flying club on a similar deal and aircraft. works out at between £50 and £65 per hour depending on location in the Uk.But you have to work for a group company. Not realy fair to compare it with those organsations trying to make a (poor)living out of this business.Nice to be able to put something back into aviation.:ok:

tmmorris 14th Aug 2005 16:25

Stampe,

Including instructor? I doubt it...

Student &c.'s prices are about the same as the RAFFCA club I belong to, certainly.

Actually the maximum our instructors are allowed to charge is £6 per hour to cover expenses I don,t normally charge to examine or instruct on the club aircraft if no expenses incurred. We try to run a genuine club in many ways like the gliding community. Some of our former cabin crew are now flying as airline pilots.Very rewarding to see.Significant cost nowadays is at about £40 per hour for fuel.:ok:

Zlin526 15th Aug 2005 10:41

Student~C150~Ipswich,

If the said flying club is only for RAF personnel or their families, then whoopee for you and them. I'm sure that 85% of readers of this forum will be excluded.

?????

you say £83 ph, is that hobbs time??? the club I fly at is 90 ph for a cherrytree 180 and its done on the "traxfax" system IE air time only!! and the instructor is free, not interested in money, ex airline captian who dont need the cash and does it for fun, only thing is the airfield is un-licensed so you have to go elsewhere for circults and solos.

The 152 is cheaper still!!!

TJF97 18th Aug 2005 08:51

Hollywood285,
I know I shouldn't but I'm assuming your school is "UP NORTH" ???

I love it if someone could tell me about some where reasonable "DOWN SARF" other wise I will have to go over to the States!!

why is it Sooooooo expensive to learn in the UK???

hollywood285 18th Aug 2005 10:15

Its not a school, and yes its up the grim old north!!

You can learn to fly here but as its un-licenced you have to go else where for solo and circiuts, most go to Gamston.

TJF97 18th Aug 2005 11:43

Hey Hollywood285 you said its grim not me!!

Thanks for the reply though
