Thinking of early retirement.....

Still trying to find the catch!

Declaration: I have nothing to do with this, it's not mine, I'm not about to move to Tucson, I have no idea who it currently belongs to. But what a wonderful idea!

Oh gods, this is a dream come true!

(Anyone got a lend of $99,666?) :{

Seriously though, there doesn't seem to be a catch, runway is fine for most light a/c (would an L39 fit I wonder?) and... ****, the constant drooling has shrted out m kybard $£^$ :ok: ;)

High density alt in summer of course, but challenge and discipline is what flying is all about!

The link showed a Portacabin in the middle of a dessert. Would anyone really pay £60k for that?

Confabulous 4th Mar 2005 15:04

Barshaker,

The Portacabin isn't the selling point - your own private runway is :cool: :O :E

Compared to the huge price increases houses have seen, agricultural land in England has never been so cheap. You could obtain a very nice "airfield" for a sum barely in to five figures, if you could persuade Farmer Palmer to sell.

SS/Mono might even post current land prices for various parts of England lifted straight out of Farmers Weekly if someone asked them!

I couldn't agree more.

Although not in the SE, not quite, anyway, £60k will buy you 12-15 acres and you can sit a £1000 mobile home on a corner of it.

All you'll need is a lawn mower.

Anything the Americans can do... ;)

Except, maybe, the cactii :rolleyes:

Just to dampen your drooling, airparks are not hard to find in the US, and altho' some are outwith most of our price ranges, such as Leeward Air Ranch (http://leewardairranch.com/) I have definitely seen some more affordable ones. A 2650' runway at 4000' elevation is going to severly restrict the visitor numbers, especially in the summer time.

Its nice to speculate tho'...
