Barton Clubhouse and Tower

Perhaps it is time for a new club house. The building is little more than a portacabin and remember it well from age 9. Am 45 now!
Back then it was reasonably smart. Now it looks like the tea room of the WRVS!

Somewhat lacking in atmosphere too. Visited Sherbern a few weeks ago and theirs is a great clubhouse with a warm and freindly atmosphere.

Don't want Barton to turn into some industrial estate with a runway, but come on. A few bob spent on tidying the place up a bit can't be bad.

A bigger car park wouldn't go amis either. Ever tried parking in there on a weekend?

Barton's best feature..........The tower..........listed building I beleive......... Well if something isn't done to preserve it, it may end up as an airfield hazard in the NOTAMS!

Come on chaps. Lets keep the spirit of Barton alive but be a bit more pro-active and spend a few bob on keeping its history alive.
(Lottery grant perhaps???)

Hey there, i believe Manchester council own the clubhouse at barton. I know Barton paid alot for the refurbishment of the "rollo room" (which infact nobody ever uses), so the management must think it would be a waste of time pouring more money in to the place. Also with the looming threat of Peel Holdings latest plans which show "no clubhouse" on them.... what would be the point? Unless LAC can secure a deal which would give their members a place to chat and have a meal during the day, its probably not worth it. I heard that these plans have been given consent. I share your view of the place being abit of a wreck and wish things were more glossy.
