Ostend Fuel Price
Does anyone know the current price of Avgas at EBOS - Thanks
|
Yes , on the 4/4/04 it was 1.43 euro's per litre.

Thanks for the info - sounds like you don't burn much going from Essex.
I'm nearly on the Welsh border and burning 19 U.S per hour:{ Have to go via The C.I. and tank! |

If going via the channel islands, try Jersey Aeroclub, landing fees are £3 per half tonne and if you wanted you can park up to 1 week free. Why not enter the Rally 28th to 30th May? All details are on the website, www.jerseyaeroclub.com I think the price can be found on the net from Shell CI. If not a call to the flying room will get you the info. When I fly to Ostende in a PA28 from EGJJ it takes between 2.25 & 2.75 hours depending on wind. Route Mulberry Harbour, BNE crossing just south of Le Touquet, KOK, EBOS. Of course if just enroute Alderney makes more sense, I understand no fee if you fill up. Just be careful with the French no fly zones at Cap de la Hague and Flammanville, Alderney departures are affected most. Hope this helps. FB:) |
Thanks FB,
I was at JJ last Autumn - very good deals you have too:ok: Was in JB last weekend and no complaints. I am going a bit faster than a PA-28!! But the fuel burn is somewhat incresed too, hence asking for fuel prices! RUDDS - do you fly out of SEN? Are they selling tax free for export? Many thanks. |

The avgas price at SEN is currently 89.06p per litre from the bowser. If you have a card for the self-refuel facility, there is a reduction of 3p a litre with the Southend Airport card, not sure what the discount is with an Air BP card. Fuel drawback can be claimed for flights landing abroad. I believe the FBO staff are able to take the drawback off your total for you, under an agreement with Customs & Excise to do so. :ok: |
Last weekend, Jersey avgas was 55p/litre. Given that one can reclaim 28.1p per litre on the fuel duty drawback on mainland-bought fuel, it cannot be worth going via Jersey for the fuel unless it lies practically on the route and one has big tanks. Especially if one can reclaim the VAT through a business.

Thanks all,
W'ere taxed to death.....and beyond, no matter what!! I'm flying a really great plane, hiring dry and working out the best solutions versus fuel burn is a whole new ball game. I'm still working out the sums of increased burn up to Fl 12,0 and the savings on the descent versus staying lower and not burning so much in the climb. Sustaining 200 kts in the descent is really great though:ok: :ok: I'll keep doing the sums! |

good job you're not flying in the Chieftain !!!!!!!!!! all flights will be routed via C.I. !!!!! |
Vanhigher,
It's a real conundrum with one hot engine, but I know you'll be transitting the C.I.'s more often than not in your new hot twin:ok: Perhaps we can do some air - to - air piccies en route then we can see how fast your ship is in the descent:p Think I'm off to read the flight manual cause I'm still not sure about 200 IAS:hmm: See you up there soon!! Sureshot- really looking forward to the air-to-air piccies !! Will have to arrange a trip with you and JR ( and don't forget Roy "landing fee " Richards !):D
looking forward to taking you up in the new avgas guzzler as well - that is as long as you are happy to travel in an aircraft that's a bit older than what you have become accustomed to :) :) PS: couldn't open picture in last post Ahh- I see the picture now !!! |
Gas guzzlers - just as well we're not into Jet A1 yet then!
I look forward to seeing the look on RR's face:p Trust it won;t lead to cardiac arrest. He's never been close to winglets! Remind me to bring some petty cash! SS |
