Looking for a UK airworthiness review engineer on a short notice
Hi colleagues, I found myself in urgent need of airworthiness review for a G-reg Grumman Tiger. The said Tiger is based in Prague and the ARC is long expired, but – the cobbler’s children are the worst shod – it’s only now that I finally have time to work on it. My privilege to work on G-reg as a holder of an EASA maintenance license expires at the end of this year, so I can still perform an annual but not much more. Unfortunately, my ARC engineer died and his CAMO is no longer active, and now I’ll need to change from British to Czech registration. So, on a very short notice, I am looking for a UK ARC engineer who could help me procure an export certificate of airworthiness. Anyone among us? Or anyone you can recommend?
What do you mean by an Export Certificate of Airworthiness? The aircraft is in Prague and so doesn't need to be flown from the UK. Surely, you need to follow the Czech processes and only need the release by the CAA if the aircraft is registered with a mortgage.
I cannot be sure, being unacquainted with both countries and their regulations; but could it be that the CZ authority will only register a plane with a valid current certificate? And since the plane is currently British, so must the certificate be.

Fl1ingfrog, certificate of airworthiness and export certificate of airworthiness are entirely different documents that serve different purposes. The latter is used specifically to facilitate the transfer of aircraft from one registry to another.
Yes of course but, the normal problem when exporting an aircraft is that of gaining a certificate for a one off flight where the annual or ARC has expired. The CAA will always inspect if so. How does a UK CAMO change things as the aircraft doesn't need to be flown from the UK. My thinking is that as you will need a Czech import C of A and also employ a Czech CAMO in order to register the aeroplane; the Czech organisation will surely deal with all the compliance issues from UK to the Czech requirements should there be a difference.
I have to admit though that I've only dealt with importing aircraft into the UK. There are no shortage of UK CAMOs throughout the UK as you will know. I wish you the best.
