Hour building in Portugal

Hello everyone,

Have any of you had any flying experience in Portugal?
I would love to build some hours over there and would like to know a recommendable airfield (for non Portuguese speaker).

Thanks a lot.

I have been to a couple of fields in Portugal, though never flying, always driving. Time and again I found them somewhat elitary, perhaps even "upper class". PPL flying could perhaps be on the expensive side in Portugal. But of course I won't claim this is a general fact, it is just my impression, based upon precious little experience.

Recently, there were inquiries here about PPL training in Spain - from people from Portugal. It all seems to indicate that Portugal might perhaps be less than ideal for your purpose.

Try Portimao (LPPM).
I flew there in 2017 and was very impressed with their general friendliness.

Try Aeroclube de Portugal in Cascais. I went there last year to enquire about flying from there. I normally fly in the UK (EASA PPL). I was warmly received and they speak English. The ATC at the larger airports speak English.
