mower tractor Ford 5030 Hydraulic question
My 1996 Ford 5030 both the hydraulic spools packed in, the arms still lift , their is plenty back end oil in it and there are no leaks. Does anyone know if its one common pump for both the lift arms and spools or 2 pumps, one for each function? I'm only seeing one pump on the side of the engine. Cant figure out if its one pump for all and the spool valve is knackered, or 2 pumps with the lifting arm one ok and spool pump shot.
FWIW I'm fairly sure my 4000 has just the one pump, and that this is similar to the 5000?
If the 5030 is a 5k derivative then you may be right in terms of what you think but I do have some parts data here somewhere so will see what I can find (it's a heap of randomly-named PDF's though, so could take a while!).

FWIW I'm fairly sure my 4000 has just the one pump, and that this is similar to the 5000?

It it just seems weird to me that the pump for the spools would go from working 100% to nothing, I would have thought it would degrade pressure slowly. I pulled the filter ofj and there’s oil in the filter, I’m thinking a relief valve is stuck open.
Oh yes, mine has a power-steer pump as well (not that it's working, due to a mishap with a hose... :-)

I would have a good look around for any random levers/valves that could have been bumped or displaced; I well recall on my larger Case 4WD having the arms jam full up and after spending a lot of time trying to figure it out I started dismantling the hydraulics - only to find an otherwise unidentified lever that was some sort of ratchet control and which had been helpfully moved by someone just a while before... not commenting on who that might have been
I've found the parts discs but it's a mission to try and sort the data out, still working on that.

It probably has a separate linkage pump inside the transmission, the external pump was for the spool valves or a loader and not connected to linkage. Check for a blocked suction filter or screen inside the transmission also if the pump is above the oil level it may need priming. Check the pump drive gear, a sheared pump shaft and pump gears for serious wear.
First action fill pump with oil, if it’s dry it won’t draw oil.
