HF radio requirement for the Pacific

For a flight from Australia, via NZ, Fiji, Kiribati and the Hawaiian Islands, does anyone know if HF radio is mandated? I'm hoping in these modern times that a satellite communication option is sufficient!

I'm pretty sure you need HF (at least for IFR) in the New Zealand FIR. I don't know about elsewhere. Though having said that, I think the may have been individual dispensations made to allow the use of sat phones.
