Airstrip hardware

Trying to find (in Europe, there are lots of US options!) an airstrip hardware supplier.

Specifically the side of runway markers/cones, and then some A and B signs for taxiways. Now, arguably, these are simple sandwich boards printed - so it's mainly the cones I'm looking for.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Sam.

Ah, not so easy! The cones along airstrips are 'flatter' than the road-style ones...

Get them 3D-printed. Everybody and their dog have a 3D-printer these days.

That would be a very expensive solution I think...

Hey Sam,
Just pop in to your nearest tyre place and offer to remove some of their worn ones free of charge , then get some white exterior paint and , voila !
Works where I fly from !

That's actually a great idea, but for where we need them it'll not work - it's a very 'posh' location, everything has to be just-so.

Well, being "just-so" usually takes a "just-so" budget.

Looking for 'just-so' effect at a lower than 'just-so' budget - we'll see!

http://www.aero-max.fr

Don't know how pricey these are, but maybe they would support the event a little bit. They are distributors for http://www.avlite.com/product/cone-markers/

Sam

If you are referring to the actual runway (not the strip or boundary) the most common method is to insert white painted concrete slabs flush with the grass surface or alternatively dig out and fill with white stones and again not proud of the surface (there is a minimum size of acceptable stones by the way). The maximum spacing along the edge markings is 60m

Anything you do proud of the surface, whatever you use, must be frangible and of a low height not to be struck by a propeller. Runway edge lighting is explained in detail in this regard.

Thanks. It's very temporary (each time for only about 6 hours), so light and simple is key.

Getting a quote from Boutique-aero, thank you Patowalker!
