Farm Strip near Kirriemuir, Angus
We have just constructed a new farm strip located 2nm SW of Kirriemuir, and 500m north of the former Drumshade Gliding Site which can be found on SkyDemon.
It is located just behind the unfinished house and farm shed. Please note STRIP IS NOT LANDABLE YET. There is an electricity cable to be removed in two weeks time running through it, however all other ground work has been completed and we are now waiting on the grass to grow.
All welcome for a buzz around to have a look before it is operational come summer time. Dimensions are 560 x 24m running 09/27 and is dead flat, so will take most aircraft.
I'll post updates when visitors are welcome to land when safe to do so.
If you are coming for a look in the meantime, please give a call on 135.475 detailing the usual stuff, but do highlight "Westmuir Traffic" as there is a strip just East of Forfar using SafetyCom and also in a 09/27 configuration. We want zero confusion as safety is our number 1 priority and with two strips in close vicinity, talking to each other is essential.
Happy Flying!

Just delighted to hear of kindred spirits willing to create their own place to commit aviation. Living just a few miles from the south coast of England and with an a/c that cruises at 80kts I doubt I'll be a regular visitor, however I wish you well in your endeavour.
Living a (humid) bit further East, but flying at the same speed, I can only concur!
@T/S: if once you report the strip as accessible to visitors, I'll also give it a mention either as an aerodrome (which shows up) or an airstrip (which doesn't).

Good for you, I hope you've got your ducks in a row and you don't have the problems that PB has with his strip, particularly if all and sundry come calling!

Strip is looking beautiful, open and ready for aircraft. I’ve landed a 152, 172, super cub and there’s also been a Maule in as well. It’s beautifully smooth and 560m long

Nice one. Made a practice approach this afternoon on the way back from Forfar but didn't know it was landable so went around. Looks nice though, will land next time if all OK.
Good to hear about your caution, but in this way it made for a sadly missed opportunity. What was wrong with a little phone call before take off - "good afternoon, I'll be flying my xxxx near your field around hh: local, I think to do a circuit at least, could I consider landing?" They call it PPR and some dislike it heavily, but to me it seems a great idea and opening up some opportunities.

PPR isn’t necessary here, land at your own discretion.
no wind sock up yet, but there are two windmills to the NW that give a good indication. Could also have a listen to Dundee ATIS to get the surface wind there before contacting safeycom on approach into us.
