CAA verification of old FAA certificate

Knowing that the deadline for verification is October this year I looked out my old FAA cert from "a few years ago"

Doesn't time fly - what I have is the old FAA 8060-1 which was the forerunner of the current CFR 61.75. It has, of course, my old UK CAA license number (and my old address) which today would be my EASA Part-FCL reference and my current address.

Does the team think it would be possible to follow the SRG 2110 route and thus get an updated FAA 61.75? It doesn't specifically mention the older certificates in the notes

I haven't tried it myself, but I think so. I assume your FAA certificate was issued after 30 June 1945!

Attached is the guidance issued by the FAA in 2016. You might want to call them to confirm.

I called the CAA and asked about this and they said the 100 pound fee wasn't applicable to the SRG 2110 route just the 44 pound fee. The utility bills need to be original and in date, as I found out.

Just a quick update. Got a reply from CAA FCL who are happy to process my verification - SRG 2110 - £44 fee - bring ID etc but cautioned that I best contact FAA Oklahoma for their input.

Seems like it should be no problem - they will action the EASA licence number and address update when received and automatically issue a 61.75 to replace my old certificate as a matter of course.

Now for a trip to Gatwick.....

This may not be entirely helpful as I already have the Plastic FAA certificate61.75 :I emailed Oaklahoma and the differing addresses do not concern them: They post the new licence to the address on your 2110 form you fill in: CAA helpfully sends the 2110 off to FAA for you.

I also had the £100 argument and established that £44 was the only charge: I was also told by CAA (on the phone) that an appointment wasn't necessary for the Verification exercise. I asked them to send me an email to this effect as I feared possible complications.

Sure enough when I arrived at Gatwick I was told I couldn't come in as I had no appointment. I showed them the email saying I didn't need an appointment and after a bit of bluster from the receptionist bloke (who are contractors and not CAA employees) and four phone calls , they printed me a temp pass and let me in.

Someone came down from upstairs, checked my documents (MUST be originals: you have a problem if all your utility accounts are online: I used my Council Tax Bill which had just arrived) and I was out within ten minutes.

They still haven't taken the £44 from my account yet (2 weeks) so my application is probably still sitting in a ruddy great pile.....
