FAI European Gliding Champs

The 2017 FAI European Gliding Championships are being run at Lasham (EGHL) from 10.08.17 until 26.08.17. There will be a couple of NOTAMs published to cover this. If you would like to know the areas where the gliders are likely to congregate en-route you can see them on the following websites.

Daily Tasks
These websites will show the any tasks that have been set.

Hi Wrecker;

Thanks for posting this, but if tasks change or get cancelled can you make sure the ladder is up-dated please. A few times over the last couple of years I've checked the ladder before setting off on a helicopter task, planning on meeting a load of gliders and found later that the task has been changed, or cancelled due to weather, or worse, not exoected to meet a gaggle of gliders and found myself in amongst loads.

SND (still flying gliders when I can)

Owing to the large number of glider pilots who follow the Comp goings on, the Competition website

www.egc2017.co.uk

has frequent news updates with task updates , actual launch and startline opening times and so on (including task cancellation).

I do find time to do useful work as well, honest guv.....

Soaringspot

A reliable backup source for tasks is below. Remember that a sudden new task could be sorted within an hour of first launch so other airspace users could well be en-route when a change happens. Likewise a task can be cancelled at any time, including after the start (if exceptional safety reasons exist). Generally the task area is not changed hugely unless the weather takes a sudden change from predictions.

Another good pre-flight tool is Spot the gliders!, the RAF are a fan of this and I'm told use it before booking out.

Lots of gliders out today, the Lasham forecast was for up to 600km!

Spot the gliders!

500km set for the 18m class, 522 for the Open class and a 4-hour AAT between 275 & 530km for the 15m class. Obviously a great soaring day down there.
