The BBC obviously thought they ought to include a generic picture of a reservoir with a caption, in case we don't know what one is.

Or is it a photo of the actual scene and the aircraft has sunk completely into the bog?

Stock picture of Blackwater Reservoir? Not worth hiring an aircraft to get a pic of the accident. Better than the pic of a Road Closed sign used so often for road accidents.
