Depends which of his Facebook pages you look at, Jay. There is video of him getting his Challis Chaffinch ready to test fly, allegedly this week. It looks like he is planning to attempt to use that to travel south to Capetown in that instead of the misfortuned Cub.

What happened to the Cub which looked like it was nearly repaired? Surely it is not possible to substitute another aircraft and claim some sort of integrity on a UK to Cape Town flight?
Not sure, but I think he's looking to sell the Chaffinch to help fund the continued flight of the Cub south. The Cub has been almost rebuilt in Nairobi, a beautiful job. She's about to get some new engine parts fitted (arrived 3 days ago) and then should be good to go.
Please note, that this is what I think is going on - it's not gospel by any means!

For those of you who have followed the antics of Maurice Kirk, I am sorry to say he was sentenced to two years in prison on 14th December 2017 for breaching four restraning orders. So he will not be back in Africa for a while.

BEagle, you make a good point. There are lots of references to to two year sentence on the internet. I also why there was nothing in the local press. It might be there are reporting restriction in place, due to an appeal or other ongoing legal matters. I imagine people posting on the internet would be less aware or bothered about reporting restrictions. But someone on here must know where Maurice is.

Maybe part of the plan, 3 hots and a cot for the winter with free SkyTV and heat, throw in some early release and he’ll back down to Africa for the Spring.
Here's a copy of the Order [It's lost its formatting]but there appears to be a mistake re the sentencing date. He was actually sentenced on 14/12/17 ct7 Cardiff Cr Ct
In the Crown Court At CARDIFF Case No: T20170239 Court Code: 411 _______ Certificate of conviction (trial) This is to certify that: Maurice John Kirk Date of Birth: 12/03/1945 Was between the 12th September 2017 & 15th September 2017 Tried and Convicted upon indictment of: ACTING IN BREACH OF A RESTRAINING ORDER, contrary to section 5(5) of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997. I don't see how the arguments that Maurice had with various authorities are relevant to his flying activities other than the diagnosis that Maurice so strongly disagreed with doesn't seem compatible with holding a valid medical certificate?
