Brescia Montichiari

Hi, just wondering if any of you have flown into Brescia Montichiari recently. I'm planning a flight to Verona Boscamantico and have to clear customs at either Brescia or Verona Villafranca.
I believe Brescia is best but wanted some idea on how busy the airport was in case its best to route elsewhere. I have written to the airport admin (but they are quite slow to respond) and anyway would appreciate any views other GA pilots may have.

Hi,

we fly there regularly with light jets and I find operations there easy and straightforward. They have quite some traffic (low-cost carriers) during holiday times.

GA is handled by the airport operator ( General Aviation | Aeroporto Brescia ) quickly and efficiently, the staff is very nice and helpful. No AVGAS!

For our jet, we pay around 1/4 of what we would pay in Verona or Venezia, but I don't know what they charge for a piston single.

For your information, be aware of the close proximity of the Italian Air Force base in Ghedi.
It is just a few kilometers away and a number of GA aircraft approaching Montichiari have landed on the wrong runway in the last few years.

Thanks aerolearner, it must have happened a few times because now it's noted in red writing on their VAC, hopefully I will be able to identify the right one ! I'm planning to approach from NW so hopefully makes the job a bit easier !
