Eden Flight Training?

Hello All,

I'm thinking of doing my PPL at Durham Tees Valley Airport with Eden Flight Training. They offer an Integrated PPL Package with Accommodation for £6800 and look pretty good.

Does anyone have information on them? Such as a review, what their aircraft and instructors are like and what the accommodation is like?

Also, does anyone else have any suggestions for integrated full-time PPL courses in Europe?

Thanks

Hello TheTypicalBrit,
Your username is funny, gave an Irish person a laugh. I haven't trained with the guys at Eden but I do know Mark Lee is a sound guy and has been very straight in all the dealings I've had with him. I sold him an aircraft a couple of years ago. Good facilities from what I've seen. I can put you in touch with some locals up there who know more.

Regards,

Irish

With PTT being out of business for a while now and Eden taking over some/most/all (??) of their students, can anyone share their experience with Eden?

Normal rules apply; paying any significant amount of money up front for flying, particularly training, rarely ends well.

Hi,

I did initially consider renewing my PPL with them as i was initially taught by Mark back in 07 - 10 when he was at St Georges ( cant speak highly enough of him as an instructor). I managed to get 1 flight in before being lucky enough to get another some 6+ weeks later which was cancelled due to A/C serviceability, attempts to book in for more proved chaotic as mentioned above by Shango.

If your set on learning to fly at Teesside and why wouldn't you the North East is the greatest place on earth! check out Scenic Air Tours, after giving up with Eden I moved to them and renewed my PPL within 3 Months (flying only at weekends), and have since started my Hour Building and Night Rating with them with plans to start the IRR soon.

They have a fleet of 3 x PA28 at £180 Ph (slightly more than Eden) but.. aside from weather I have never had a booking cancelled due to instructor availability or aircraft serviceability so don't mind paying slightly more. and providing you plan in advance weekend availability isn't much of a problem, this is when they are busiest.

Hope this helps in your decision making

Chris

Unhappy Eden Flight Training Review

Eden Flight Training Review

I pre-paid them a grand about 8 month ago, struggled to book a lesson, suppose they don't really need to care once they had my money... Asked for a refund in August, still waiting for the money back and that's after taking them to court and getting a CCJ against them. Seems like they are struggling financially, company accounts 6 months overdue (tactic to delay tax payment), I'd stay well away as they probably won't be around much longer.

I think it’s fair to say that this business is a cash cow for the owner and their student’s progress is not the number one priority. Trying to get paperwork signed or getting the CFI to turn up for check rides - forget it. Half the time you can’t even get them to pick up the phone. Avoid.

This could be quite a lot of the schools/ clubs I’ve been associated with. It’s disappointing that many of them just seem to be run for profit or as a hobby corner shop business.

The only place I know where it is possible to operate a flying school/club for a profit is Cuckooland although some try.

Not sure there is any other reason to operate a flying school.
Profits or hobby, it's attitude that counts.

Hi,

Apologies for the revival of an older thread but I was wondering if anyone had any recent experience with Eden Flight Training. Looking at their social media they seem to be thriving recently with new instructors, new aircraft, premises etc.

I am looking to start my PPL journey using Teesside as the base. Going on some previous information I'd read I was leaning towards Scenic Air Tours but looking at the recent Eden Flight Training social media I'm now not sure.

If anyone has recent experiences from either Eden Flight Training or Scenic Air Tours that they could share that would be great!

Thanks!
