Regardless of the rights and wrongs of her previous actions, this is getting to feel uncomfortably close to stalking.

Gonzo (#3785),
..."about to leave Embry-Riddle on a solo round the world flight"...
My old Alma Mater - who guided my first faltering flutters in 1941 when it was just a little Flying school in Arcadia, FLA, taken over by the USAAC as a Primary School for Pilot Training.
------------
27/09 (#3800),
..."On this flight there may in fact have been two "passengers"...
ISTR that Winston Churchill, in his pre-WW1 days, had a go at this flying business, and spoke of: "Stalling between two Fools !"

Cheers both, Danny.

PS:
"The Spring is Sprung, the Grass is riz,
I wonder where the Boidie is ?
"The Boid is on the Wing - ain't that absoid ?
I always thought the Wing was on the Boid !"
(Anon ?)

So the Bird in a Biplane is off again - watch this space ! D.

Isn't the purpose of her "adventures" to be seen and followed?

I suppose once she passes the AZ crash site for the resumption of her "mail carrier route" flight that's when all the phoney nostalgia about stick and rudder flying, PR and cheesy grins for the press begins all over again, can't wait! Be nice if one of the internet whiz's on here posted the daily Center and Approach ATC comms of the journey

I think we should all be standing by for the next installments of "outreaching" or whatever it is called. Aviation's answer to female advancement will shortly be encouraging her next tranche of poor third world girls to work hard in STEM subjects so they too can be as successful as erm.... she is? No doubt this encouragement will take place in trailer parks, Indian reservations and drinking establishments such as Hooters across the US Midwest throught to the Eastern Seaboard. Or there again...

I can't wait!

You can always use this site https://www.liveatc.net/archive.php
Set the date and time (z), select from the available broadcasting station using the airport code ie Burbank is KBUR and bob's yer uncle. :-)

Well I can confirm that TCT is most certainly flying the Stearman again. Just heard some ATC chat from Santa Monica. 30 seconds ...a mis-read back of QNH went unchallenged by ATC. It was a 600'+ error too. Heading towards other traffic that had the sense to get out of the way. A couple more missed calls and I gave up.

I know that hearing ATC in an open cock-pit (sic), stick and rudder biplane can be tricky and do give her some leeway on that but equally I can see how she would drive any sane ATCO round the bend.

I wish her a safe flight but if she starts spouting crap again she can expect to be challenged on it.

Here you go...

Select date 22 June
From the drop-down list choose KSMO Tower
Select time 0030z-0100z and fast forward to minute 8:20 in the mp3 file for the join. ATC pass pressure as 29.70, read back is 29.07 and is unchallenged by ATC which is bad show on their part and not the pilots fault. :-(

Also...
Departure is on 07:10 on the earlier 0000z-0030z file

Hope that helps.

The big question is she flying solo or sole pilot?

I'm no fan of TCT but she's not the first to mis-hear a radio call and won't be the last. I suggest that kind of post isn't the most appropriate.

The thread is about whether or not she is still claiming to be doing something which she perhaps isn't doing. That is what most of us are interested in.

...and that's why I said she wasn't at fault in my post.

It has all gone very quiet. Last info I found was the a/c was to the east of Wichita on the 27th June. I don't hold much faith in the accuracy of that, something is perhaps out of kilter.

To go from the endless flood of updates, facebook posts and news reports for the previous flights to nothing at all for this phase seems very odd indeed.

Learned a lesson? Perhaps she has fired her PR advisor?

I have to say that, if she has stopped making silly claims and gone back to just flying, I'd suggest we just let her get on with that. I hear ATP pilots misunderstand calls on the radio almost every time I fly.

There is nothing from a press point of view since January 2017. TCT's website now shows 'retro-news' releases rather than talking about what is coming up. At the time of writing, the latest information is from March.

Maybe, as Jozarno suggests, the message has got through.

If the pretense of solo flights of derring-do and dramatic outreach programs has gone, a pilot who quietly gives something back to aviation through lectures and demo's while flying in a lovely replica would get my admiration.

The plot thickens.

TRACEY CURTIS-TAYLOR TO CONCLUDE HER AROUND THE WORLD FLIGHT IN A STEARMAN AT AAM - American Airpower Museum

Spirit of Victory ?

Has it had a name change or is it a typo?

If it has then we will need another name for Artifice.

They have been flown, albeit in a Dreamliner. She will have been solo in seat A1 no doubt.

Spirit of Victory ?
Given that the original aircraft appears to have lost half of its name, and in light of the various accidents and incidents it has suffered on the way round, I wonder what proportion of the original airframe will make it to the end?

A larger number than the proportion of her reputation that has made it this far I think!

No doubt her "passenger" will be hunched down and out of sight as she orbits the Statue of Liberty solo. That's assuming madam doesn't turn Victory into defeat before she gets there!
