Perhaps the ownership thing is a technicality.

In my part of the world the person operating the aircraft for more than 28 days has to be the registered owner from CAA's point of view, even though the actual title of the aircraft may be held by another party.

This is to allow the CAA to directly contact the user in the event of an emergency AD etc.

Could the Stearman be actually registered to T-C-T but the title held by 3G Classic Aviation.

On another note, I see on the 3G Classic website a mention of a Ryan PT-22. Coincidentally T-C-T has one of these as well. Any connection?

The question of Ewald being only a passenger was answered in the accident report. He claimed the same flying hours as TCT plus a few extra for what I imagine were test flights.

At the risk of extending this story to infinity I would like to recount an interesting conversation that took place a few days ago during a trip in our corporate twin. The weather we ploughed through on this trip resulted in us spending more time stuck in an FBO which is not one of our normal stops, the result being we {the F/O and myself} fell into a conversation with an all female crew, the result being that it would seem that these two ladies will be waiting for the offending members of their gender involved in this scam should they ever spend any time in Canada, as for the male members a modification to their bodies sounds like their collective fates! The main gist of their conversation seemed to be they were furious at the negative views this group have brought to female pilots in general!

Sadly Clunkdriver that just highlights the problem that the award nominators and givers have failed to grasp. It is not just a merry few on here that feel this is all rotten to the core. This was a global exercise and so the controversy surrounding the facts will echo round the world too.
Maybe TK has influenced Donald Trump's PR machine, I thought the phrase "alternate facts" seemed familiar.

That said...

I hope you put them straight and told them how she is an inspirational role-model. ;-)

SATCO, I fear that any positive mention of this group of twits {and this includes Boeing and all these absurd awards from various organisations} would probably have resulted in modifications to our own bodies! I just cant understand why such organisations and corporations don't simply fess-up and put this behind themselves as it getting into the realm of "aviation legends", its rare to not hear it mentioned in any of the FBOs we drink coffee in!An organisation based close to us does regular trips to Australia in their Global,a few weeks back the guy on clearance delivery asked them if the were flying a Stearman, from then on the conversation involved quite a few aircraft and went downhill vey rapidly, and didn't reflect well on those involved in this rampant deception. Maybe they are involved with the body counting for Mr. Trump!

On the who owns what question.

The airplane is/was US registered - so unless one is a US citizen one cannot register it in one's own name - one needs a properly formed trust company.

So my airplane is registered to SAC in the UK - so far as the FAA and everyone else is concerned they own it - but they merely hold it in trust.

I think that could be in someway connected to this who owns question.

This whole thread is fascinating. I remember seeing the first stories in the press and thinking "loadsa money" - we all know sponsored things are never "quite" as they seem, the selfless are not so, nothing is as it seems. This feeling was all the greater with the SOA/TCT story - we all knew there would be "support" systems and TCT would be shepherded to the next corporate stop enroute with minimal risk.

The only odd thing was why not a Moth of some kind - cause a Stearman is safer if more expensive to operate.

Do feel some sympathy for TCT though - I get the sense of a woman who got on a moving escalator and found herself to a point where it was just too late to jump off; that said why one wonders did she accept the laurels being heaped upon her, she could have declined the awards, but then it was a sponsored trip and the awards kept the publicity ball bouncing so maybe she was contractually obliged to go along with it - we all need to know?

A coming clean statement seems well past due?

It was never too late to get off, she had many opportunities to correct the root error but maybe then the sponsorship would have dried up. She chose not to make the correction. There are many instances where the words solo or alone were used in interview and not one was corrected.

It is still not too late.

Well, again I seem to be the bearer of bad tidings, according to a conversation I was privy to recently, the offender is still keeping to the "official" version of her great exploits ! What a shame that this is the case! The real losers in this whole mess are the kids who have been denied a chance to gain employment in aviation!

Looking at Facebook, it seems that, having understandingly gone low profile since the end of October last year, that she's just started off again afresh this month ......

Tracey Curtis Taylor's facebook page still carries this libelous statement suggesting a collusion between myself and Sam Rutherford. This statement has been visible for well in excess of three months.

Her Bird in a Biplane site carries the same allegations regarding me.
Statement - October 2016
[quote]

I would now like to put the above allegations to bed and would appreciate suggestions on how they can be redressed?

If there are any flying legal experts on Pprune your input will be appreciated.

In the meantime I am asking her lawyers to retract all allegations against myself, the LAA,Barry Tempest,Chris Martyr and the members who voted to retract her LAA Navigation Award

Well the obvious approach would be to back up your claim that the piece is libellous by suing for libel in the UK - sounding off on a forum isn't going to achieve anything.

If her website content creates a criminal offence in Thailand that would surely be a matter for the Thai authorities - have you reported it to them?

The low cost option would be to complain directly to Facebook. No doubt it will take a while to get on their radar, but you seem to have the skills/time to do that.

Entering a dialogue with her legal rep, would have them jumping for joy I would think.

Unfortunately that's not the way that Libel works (in most jurisdictions). In most cases there is what lawyers call an "inversion of the burden of proof" in that the burden is on the person claiming to have been libelled to prove statements were false (in some cases they must prove them to have been KNOWN to be false - mere inaccuracy isn't sufficient).

I fear that to prove libel it will be necessary for you to *prove* (not merely assert) that you didn't know the person alleged. This may not be simple. I also fear that conducting this diatribe in a public forum may not be benefitting your case should it ever come to court.

Perhaps you should focus on conducting your litigation rather than on posting commentaries about it.

To allege that you are or were an associate of anyone is hardly a case for a libel action (Unless the alleged associate was named Hitler or something like that!). I am sure her lawyer knew exactly what she was doing when writing to you. You don't get to be a member of Matrix Chambers if you are not recognised as at least quite good at your craft. Having been called to the Bar in 1997 and specialising in media and information law, I think you are on a sticky wicket.
She is also recognised as a leading light in defamtion law. What are your qualifications in this tricky area?
Given that the lady in question was/is backed and funded by some big money organisations who may perhaps see their own reputations under attack from yourself (by association), I know where my money would go in the betting stakes if it came to you vs those organisations.
Personally, I think this thread has become the most vitriolic I have seen in a long while and I am baffled why you persist with this virtual crusade.
Why not just give it up as you are creating the view that you are determined to cause as much damage and distress to this lady as you possibly can?

"The actions of Mr Rutherford are now the subject of legal proceedings and have been reported to the police."

This is interesting - I thought I'd hear about any proceedings by letter rather than on an internet forum!

I imagine the Old Bill gave it fairly short shrift (if, indeed, the statement above is true of course).

Safe flights, Sam.

Having been mentioned a couple of times in this publicly available statement I have only one conclusion.
It's old-hat , a rather sad and belated gesture of defiance and has no real significance.
There is so much in there which can be disproved if Curtis-Taylor really wants to re-live her 'annus horriblis 2016' , all I can compare it with is old newspaper headlines from 1939, found in someone's loft in 2017.

Ask yourselves this : What's the difference between Tracey Curtis-Taylor and Lena Zavaroni ? You'll still find a few people who remember Lena Zavaroni was !
In the event of Curtis-Taylor wanting to table a motion at LAA-AGM 2017 for re-instating her award , then if the content of her website's publicly available statement has any substance , then bring it on !

But it won't happen ! And we all know why ! [ That includes the woman in question].

I'll probably get a rocket for this, but hey ho, life's too short not to have giggle once in a while.

Follow the link, go to post #6, read down to point 9, and lol. (PS for the sake of your keyboard, put your coffee down first.)

I have noticed she or her PR team have dropped the term 'Aviatrix' from many of her online publications, it now seems to be 'British Aviator'
