I called them twice yesterday. First call was to find out the progress of the application to be told it'll be another couple of weeks. I came off the phone to them had a think about things then called back to see if I could go down and collect it at the desk since they had the application anyway, the pleasant female at the other end of the phone told me it has been dispatched today(yesterday) not holding out much hope I was going to wait until next week then FedEx dropped it off today.

Dropped into the public counter today to do my JAR-EASA CPL conversion and they have introduced new counters in the well of the building.

All very impressive. A few suits wandering about to ensure things went well. I handed my papers over at 8:30 this morning and was walking out with my new little booklet etc at 10:00.

Not bad.

If a licence can be issued in under 2 hours at the counter why does it take so long by post ?

You may well ask this, the most unusual reason given for delay in issuing a licence to me was that my medica certificate was in the words of the person at the Gatwick FCL desk "to new"?!!!

It is high time some of the other departments in the CAA who do offer a high class service turned on FCL as without doubt the poor service they offer brings the whole of the CAA into disrepute.

I also phoned the CAA chasing mine. I was told that the license was being processed and would not be ready for at least another 2 weeks. Magically 5 days later my little blue wallet arrived. Perhaps my call gave them a friendly kick up the backside
