About Millennium Master/Blackshape/Shark-Europe

Hi everybody,

My name is Nick, I am a flight test engineer and this is the first time I write on this forum, so I would like to address a warm "HELLO!" to every member who is reading.

I have a question regarding the LSA/VDS Millennium Master.
This fast little aircraft is not sold anymore by the original company (Millennium Aircraft) but I found it advertised on the website of Blackshape, a company based in southern Italy. At the same time I found an aircraft which looks almost exactly the same on the site of Shark-Europe, a German LSA manufacturer.

I suspect the original design was sold to both of this companies, but I have no info in regards. Does anybody know what happened? I would like to identify who is the real design owner and who can guarantee the best quality since I would like to purchase the aircraft.

Thanks for the attention,
Nick

Hi Nick,

I know nothing about the aeroplane I'm afraid - but just to say that you're not the only FTE on here: a bunch of us are found regularly over on the Flight Test page.

Cheers,

Hi Nick, welcome to the "Crazy Gang". Like you I fell in love with the Millenium Master when I first saw it at Friedrichshafen some years ago. Anyway there was an article in the UK magazine " Loop" in August this year and it appears it is now being manufactures in Latvia by a company called Pelegrin. Their website is PELEGRIN. Performance doesn't come cheaply. A cruise speed of 144 kts but at a cost of Euro170,000. I wonder how many they will sell at that price? Can I have a ride when you get yours please?

Shark vs Blackshape

Hi Nick,
Both the planes are low wing and tandem configuration fitted with retractable landing gear.
But this does not make them similar airplanes. Design, cockpit and building process are very different. To come in the following weeks is a face to face test in a german magazine.
Personally, I made my choice with the Shark. At least I have proven great passive security. My rebuilt plane is about to fly within weeks.

Ciao e2bbn,

Indeed you are right, they are not the same aircraft, but it's undeniable they look pretty similar. I talked with the guys from Monopoli and they explained that both the projects were born from the same initial design, but then they took different directions. I am now trying to assess both of them, but I cannot lacte the website of Shark any more: do you know something about?

Thanks and congratulations for your aircraft, I really like it!

Dave

I can't really talk about Belgium, but I can say that the Blackshape Prime will be at the Sywell show this summer, and that my company will be taking orders for late 2012 delivery!

Exact price is to be determined - but we expect it to be very very competitive with other Group A aircraft.

If you want to be kept upto date by all means mail me at [email protected]

Regards

PS I know that it would be even more wonderful as a Microlight, but the weight limits in the UK just do not allow for this kind of quality build and specification.

hi boys, hi Eric

I am the boss of Shark project.
It started at COMP-LET, now continuing at SHARK.AERO company, but the same people, the same workspace. Just formal change.

With Millenium we have the same roots : physical laws are the same for us
It resulted in near the same aircrafts.
MIG29 and F16 are near the same, if I am in good distance.
More close you are, more differencies you will find.

Come to drink a coffe or bear with us:

It's a fantastic design and great to fly. Bob Davy flew it for our test and loved it.
The team at Peligrin are now into production with the aircraft from Latvia - the first aircraft to be built in Latvia since 1938 (the I16 - Picked up by the Germans and turned into the ME109!!). Dace, who you can see in the film (see below), is very helpful so i'm sure if you want more information they will jump on it. email is [email protected]

If you have an iPad you can get the Millennium Master flight test and film in the LOOP app from the app store. It's free - all you have to do is search for LOOP aviation at the iTunes App store. It has 360 degree views of the aircraft and tons of info about it including a shortened version of the following film we made. The full version is on our LOOPTV channel on YouTube.looptelevision's Channel - YouTube

Shark as terragon , millennium master and black shape are copy of the asso x jewel designed by Giuseppe Vidor which is lighter and faster from his composite copy and very cheaper, it costs an half compared to the black shape which is about 30 kg heavier,if someone is interested in asso kits i can put in contact with the tester of the first models of the asso series, who worked directly with Giuseppe Vidor, he still build near Rome, kits of asso v x ray and asso x jewel with all the necessary for a ready to fly plane (wood, landing gear, fuel tank, glue, instruments, ecc)
you can contact me with a private message or at [email protected]

Alex 1989 are right. The original project is from Asso x and Millennium aircraft original project was developped by the Compact Composit from province of Turin in collaboration with the Politecnico of Turin. This light aircraft has been the object of my thesis. I performed all the structure FEM analysis using Patran-Nastran software and calculated all the stratification of the sandwich panels with skin in carbon-fiber. After I graduated my cousin followed the project and the Italian astronaut Maurizio Cheli performed the first flight. I have got yet all the original FEM model as I calculated during the period of the thesis.

Hi Danilo, is your thesis publicly available? It would make very interesting reading for us interested in composits.

Cheers,
Mark

Hello everybody,

I live in France, southwest, and I'm building an Asso X, I have a lot of questions about the way to do it really well and Giuseppe Vidor has left us some years ago... I'd like to mix traditional wooden construction with a bit of stratification. Is it possible to read your thesis Danilo.big ? I'd like to change a lot of details to make building a little bit more simple... Rudders for example.

Kind regards,
Philippe

Hoi Poeli, if you are still around after all these years, come to EBZH Kiewit to see the PH-4P4 that is now based there.
(it is rumoured to have +/- 480 kg empty weight, can never legally fly as an ultralight, LSA status might work)
