I take it you mean 633 Sqdn..... That's my wake up music in the car when I drive to work. Ron Goodwin, superb and often overlooked composer. He also did 'Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines' and did some of the incidental music for 'The Battle Of Britain', the main theme being of course by Sir William Walton, so he did his bit for aviation in his own way.

My wake up music would more likely be "Monster" by Skillet. Nobody talks to me in the morning!

Milton since you mentioned Feeder, the perfect song for when you are stuck on the ground watching the bad weather has got to be "Summer's Gone".

For when I get up late and need to get to the airfield fast before the refueller goes to lunch I find anything by Metallica is good.

For flight planning try Daft Punk's "TRON: Legacy" soundtrack. Certainly the best thing they ever did.

I wouldn't even contemplate listening in the air though; hard enough to hear Farnborough as it is!

I remember back in the '80s seeing the Skyhawks formation team in Fournier RF4s performing to the music of Pink Floyds Shine on You Crazy Diamond. They brought a tear to my eye.

More recently "downhill Flight" on you tube. The music is infectious. Narcotic by Liquido.

Actually Ron Goodwin wrote a complete score for BoB, as WW's was considered by Universal - allegedly - to be too short, and too derivative. The BoB film as originally released had the title piece by WW, and all the rest was by RG.

"Aces High" is my favourite, although I love his theme from "Where Eagles Dare" as well.

The music that's most evocative to me is John Barry's soundtrack to 'Out of Africa'. The Tiger Moth scene with the 'Flying over Africa' track is just great. Makes me want to get up there in a biplane in the clouds every time.

Sorry if I spoil the fun, but don't I remember it is considered poor pilotship to listen to music while flying? ISTR a mention to that effect in a Threvor Tom* book where it says one is technically able to listen to AM broadcast on the ADF.

Though I am an amateur musician, I was never yet relaxed enough at the stick to have room for a single note between my ears whilst piloting. Far too much occupied with the horizon, scanning instruments, R/T, listening for queer noises in the engine, comforting the occasional passenger, looking out for unannounced traffic, enjoying the view, confirming navigation on map and gps and outside view.

But regarding those piloting virtually, I suppose they can legally enjoy virtual music meanwhile.
