Hi Gang.
Speedtape - defo wasn't me in the Bulldog!!
Tek - is the Cesspit G-LR? Have seen it on the apron, wasn't sure if it was ours - any good?
Not sure if visiting aircraft can "divert" from Samson as they ARE the appointed handlers for the south side, maybe something Clarky might want to look into.
Administrators - had the (mis) fortune to bump into the male half of the appointed administrators recently. Needless to say I approached him and bombardered him with questions... his response.... it is highly unlikely that ANY action will be taken against anybody in conjunction with the demise of the old Newcastle Aero Club.
So, I make that over £200,000 in various debts & £18,000 the ex Chairman creamed off in expenses over a 3 month period (he is now running his own business...) + 1 £500 laptop + whatever other people creamed off over the years and nobody has a case to answer.... BOLLOX.

The former club's creditors would of course have an incentive. It seems no member considers themselves sufficiently out of pocket to pursue this. It is surprising however that the Airport Authority does not want to recover its landing fees or the IR their tax owed. Someone could suggest the Revenue are not acting in the public's interest by not pursuing their bad debtors for payment.

Yes G-LR is one of ours,flew it other night, clean tidy nice gps
but has lack of power with reasonable sized pilot/passenger.

I believe the ex Chairman is running a motorcycle training organisation, cost around £18,000 to set it up....
G-LR, yes it does look small inside - would be some uplift with me and you eh TeK!

Ah, so that's where it is - guessed somewhere up there. I know JC is still in contact with him but other than that I have not seen hide nor hair of him since his "expenses" were exposed.

I am keeping well matey but a distinct lack of spare funds has put this flying mullarkey on the backburner somewhat. Perhaps I should ask NC if I can clean his aircraft, or cut the grass or just be a generals dogs body in return for some discounted flying.........what do you think??
The motorcycling school was purchased from the previous owners (Derek and Janice) last year I think. When I was there (a few years back) they had top notch kit including new 640cc R30 CCM SuperMotards and it used to be a cracking little school but I have no idea what it's like now?

Hi Gang.
Anybody know the situation regarding landing at Brunton in north Northumberland, did see something on the notice board a while ago regarding the new owners of the airfield not wanting people to land there. I assume if it is now closed then the Border Parachute Centre will have relocated too??

I heard that Alnwick District Council had told the parachute centre that they could no longer Fly from Brunton although they had 10 years left on the lease, but they could still use it for parachuting. Huh?

Brunton Airfield
No landings at all there now I'm afraid.
Destined to become a housing estate I was told.
I did a parachute jump there 25 years ago and I remember the aircraft having to go around as a learner driver insisted on practicing emergency stops on the runway. When the jump aircraft was waiting to take to the skies we were all treat to the spectacle of a chap on a motorbike doing a wheelie around the perimeter track and runway, as well as young lad driving a very fast kart rather sideways. Very entertaining!

Brunton..
Shame that, was always a good place to drop in on the way back from Scotland. Yeh, I did notice all 3 runways were effectively blocked with heaps of manure/hay/bricks etc etc.. 
Yes, to be honest I took a spin around the outer taxiway many years ago in my Uncle Bernard's old Porsche - but that WAS between parachute drops!
Aye, the parachute gang up there, the kids looked older than the parents who again looked older than the grandparents - it's an odd world at Brunton..

There is a possibility that jumping may also come to an end at Shobdon (Peterlee) too, as there is a request for planning permission to build more wind turbines barely 1 mile from the runway. Hopefully this will fail, as I would imagine that without the parachute club there will be little activity at the airfield to justify its continued existence.

It's a shame about Brunton. It would be perfectly placed for stop off after a trip North. Or even somewhere else to go in the area. I guess Eshott's the only other place in Northumberland? Apart from Milfield - anyone know if you're allowed to fly in there? Or are they strictly for their own gliders? Would be a nice place to pop into one day.

I don't ever recall seeing Millfield listed in Pooleys or the VFR guide? I've certainly seen powered aircraft flying (low) around the site but these could well be tug aircraft?
The number for the Borders Gliding club is - 01668 216284
There is an airfield about 6 miles west of Berwick called Winfield, despite flying in that area a few times I've never actually spotted it from the air??!! It's situated just off the B6461 (Kelso - Berwick road). I can always eyeball Charterhall without too much trouble but Winfield is a different matter.
If you are ever driving around there, look out for the electricity pylon with the red light on top, Winfield is approx a mile on the right hand side - assuming your heading towards kelso.

PD - cheers for that. Didn't know about that one up by Berwick. Next time I'm in the area I'll have a look for it.
As for Millfield - I wouldnt mind a shot in a glider anyway, I shall give them a ring sometime. I expect the aircraft you saw probably were the tugs....would be nice, if you were able to fly-in though.
