Probationary Restrictions - New members and Private Messaging
 

Probationary Restrictions:

As a new member, all of your posts are checked by a human being before they appear. It lasts for a limited number of posts.

Until you have an established posting history you can’t use the Private Messaging system, add url links or images to posts.

Works purely to cut out the scamsters, crooks, malware merchants and lonely Nigerian ladies.

3 Posts to read messages?
 

So I got a post removed and a message from moderator, but if I try and read the message it says you have to post 3 times before you can use the messaging system? Is there any reason to restrict people from reading messages sent to them? Weird

Unable to access inbox
 

Having recently registered, I'm unable to read messages in my inbox. I understand my attempted posts have not passed moderation, and the messages may be related to this.

PM question
 

I'm a newbe around here, and wondered if I'm doing something wrong.

My screen shows I have 3 private messages, but I can't actually read them because apparently I can only access the PM system after I've made three posts (if I understand that correctly). I have just received a notification that my PM box is nearly full, suggesting I archive messages or something. But I can do this because I can't get into my PMs

Have I done something wrong?

Problems with DMs and posts
 

So, cant post a url because it states I need 8 posts. I try to post 8 and get a warning I am limited to 5 per day. I go to inbox and its blocked saying its limited to members with less than 3 posts. Also states is 100% full, but I cant access the messages.

So, blocked from posting URL
Blocked from posting 8 posts to qualify
Blocked from my inbox because I have less than 3 posts, even though I posted 5.

Likewise can’t access PMs to message an admin!

You should be able to email Admin via the Contact Us hyperlink at the foot of the page, https://www.pprune.org/sendmessage.php

Have you tried that?

I’ve had an email saying I’ve got a PM but my inbox is full (it had two messages in it which I’ve since deleted). Will the PM come through or will it be automatically deleted since there wasn’t space? Will I be granted more storage after a certain time period? Two messages seems quite restrictive! Many thanks

I don't believe it is deleted, but PM space increases with posting

In the event that you're unable to access the PM, the email notification should have all relevant details, like the message itself and the sender
