Photo download

Hello, just registered with PPrune and was wondering whether it was allowed to take copies of the photographs people have submitted? I notice they all seem to be stored by Photobucket with their ink mark across them ( which sometimes makes the detail difficult to see). Is there a way to copy without the ink mark?

You could try this: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...cket-pics.html

As for 'taking copies'... that depends on what you do with them. If you just want to save it to your own system to look at... nobody can stop you. The photo will still be copyrighted to the original creator/owner, so you cannot share it on other sites or use it for any other purpose, unless it is specifically licensed to be used in that way or you arrange for a licence from the copyright holder.

Brushnut,

The photos defaced with Photobucket’s logo are the result of a change in their policy a few years ago, when they stopped allowing free accounts and tried to force users to pay for access. My response was “p**ss off!” and I switched to another free account.

In those days, you couldn’t upload photos to PPRuNe and so an external photo repository was required. Nowadays you can upload directly to PPRuNe and so the need has gone away.

Jhieminga,

Thanks for that tip. I’ll try that on some old posts of mine.

Jhieminga,

I followed the instructions and have been successful in removing Photobucket's defacements. It's amazing how much nicer my photos look without that "grey mist" over them. I'm now working my way through some old posts.

I had to modify the
technique slightly, because I use Safari on a Mac, but it is fundamentally the same as advertised on the Corvette Forum.
