New look PPRuNe
Not sure why scripts are hanging on some pages either - the hang seems permanent, as in it locks the page up and just shows a pair of black arrows rotating clockwise at the bottom of the page. I left it like this for around 10 minutes and it stayed the same.
When you get a page that hangs with a locked up script, it looks like this, but with the black arrows rotating clockwise:
I'm continually getting an IE pop-up stating:
I'm using IE11 on a Win7 computer on an hotel WiFi hotspot.
Never had that problem with the last software version!
Please sort this out!

When I'm reading a thread and get to the bottom, on the old Prune, I could just click the "Go" button and be taken back to the sub-forum, say Tech Log. This no longer happens. "Thread Jump" doesn't do anything. I assume the "Go" is now for going to a page number. The only way I can get back to the table of contents of sub-forum I'm in is to scroll all the way back to the top then click the page site link. Jumping to another sub-forum, say "Rumours and News", is no problem, open the dropdown then click the sub-forum.

There is definitely a problem with scripts hanging on some pages. I've just sat for thirty seconds of so watching the page try to load then gave up. A quick look showed that it was a script hanging. There seem to be major issues with embedding things in posts too, with big blank spaces where people have supposedly posted things like links to photos or YouTube videos.
The text sizes seem to be all over the place too. Some devices are showing the pages with overlapping text, making things unreadable, others are either defaulting to a very tiny font size (can be manually fixed by zooming the browser, but a PITA) or an overly large font size, again which can be fixed by zooming the browser out.
It looks like there are some bugs in the display side of the new upgrade that need some fine tuning to get a consistent look across all devices/browsers, I think, plus a fix is needed for the stuff that no longer shows up in posts, although does if the post is quoted. Probably teething troubles from the upgrade that will hopefully get sorted as soon as the causes are found and the settings tweaked accordingly.
FWIW the forum does seem to look a LOT better on a Linux box than it does on either a Windows PC or an iPad. On the latter it's pretty close to being unusable, doesn't bother me as I don't use one, but I did a quick check with my wife's iPad last night and there are definitely serious issues with overlapping text etc. I've yet to check it with my tablet, which runs LineageOS, but expect it'll be OK on that, as it's essentially Linux underneath it all.

If you can link me to a post where there are blank spaces that should be videos, or photos, it would help, thank you.
RE: overlapping text, same -- please post a screen shot/link as I am not seeing this behavior. PLEASE NOTE: if you are using a mobile device with the full desktop version of the site, you will see some small text/inconsistencies. The mobile skin is optimized for mobile devices and we highly recommend using it.

I'll see if anything can be done about the long page loads.

This thread consistently has the lock up problem with the rotating black arrows at the bottom: https://www.pprune.org/jet-blast/411...wheel-729.html which is being reported as being a stuck script (according to Firefox).
This post illustrates the big blank box issue, where some embedded content doesn't display in the post, but does pop up if you quote it, for some reason: https://www.pprune.org/jet-blast/608...l#post10129598
Getting a screen grab from the tablet to show the fixed forum header blanking out the posts which scroll behind it is a bit challenging, but I'll see if I can get one if it may help sort things out.
Finally, for some reason the Private Flying sub-forum is still in the older format, it seems: https://www.pprune.org/private-flying-63/
I hope the above is useful, and I do appreciate the work that goes on behind the scenes to keep this forum going!

However it's simple enough to move the browser window so that they're off the right hand side of the screen.

I'm running Firefox on everything, Windows 7, two flavours of Linux and LineageOS on a tablet, and all showed variations in text size and formatting, with the Linux machines giving what looks to me to be the best text size etc. The only other browser I've tried is whatever an iPad uses. I don't use one, but I tried to see what the site looked like on my wife's iPad last night (which had the problem with the overlapping text etc).

The mobile version may well be OK on a small screen, but is pretty dire on a large format tablet, where by default I (and probably anyone else with a big screen tablet) will set the default to the "normal" version. It's when the browser (in my case Firefox) is set to default to the big screen version (because the tablet has a big screen, so it's daft to just have a "letter box" mobile phone type view) that the fixed position header overlap seems to create a problem. The mobile skin isn't really usable on a big screen tablet, unfortunately (this may well be why I had problems when I tested it out using my wife's big screen iPad, too, perhaps).

I've reported the YT links issue to tech.
We are still working on the formatting so I have no idea why some forums may appear in Infinite Scroll and others do not. I'll see what is going on.

I have adblocker on my iPad and never see adverts. We all love what’s familiar but nothing ever stays the same. Pprune is no exception. So far it’s working ok, just different!

Ad blocking
As Highway 1 suggests, use an Ad Blocker. I have one that works well for almost all my surfing -- including pprune.
I too am finding the layout a bit daunting at first but perhaps that's just the tendency to be grumpy about change in general these days...
The best news as far as I'm concerned is the statement that posting of photos will finally be less frustrating an experience than it was in the past. I had stopped participating in some of the photo intensive fora for that reason. Perhaps I'll try again.
