The mobile-optimised skin is pretty grim on a large format tablet, as it seems optimised for smaller mobile devices, so is not, IMHO, a viable option for those of us who use such devices. I've just given up trying to get the forum to work on my large format tablet for this reason. My guess is that the same may apply to those using larger iPads.

My tablet browser (Firefox) is set to ignore the mobile versions of sites, because, without exception, they don't look good or work properly on a big screen. The big screen version of this forum used to work fine on my tablet until the upgrade, but now suffers from text in posts that is very hard to read. I'm currently typing this on a PC with a 24" screen and the text size in posts is pretty damned small, too, and my near-vision is pretty damned good!

I've just done a comparison with a Word document loaded at full screen, and the text size in this box I'm typing in is roughly midway between 8 point and 9 point, which is pretty damned small. Around 10 to 11 point is about my preferred text size, accepting that there may be a scaling factor involved with differing screen resolutions.

Does anyone actually like the mobile format? Does anyone actually use it?

And for the first time since starting on pprune I am now using an ad blocker. How ironic, the change to make ads more prominent has caused me, and others from what I see posted, to block all ads. How can this be good for the owners of the site?

What issues are you having signing in on mobile skin? There is a "hamburger" menu at top left, click that and click LOG IN.

This morning, for the first time, I managed to login. I was not able to do so until some of the adverts had loaded.This took nearly 15 minutes. When I got to the log in page the blessed floating header kept getting in the way. It took me another ten minutes to manipulate the header out of the way of the user name and password boxes. Once logged in the header kept getting in the way and I had to log out or go mad. I logged out.

I usually only go onto the internet with my laptop a couple of times a week. In the past I have been able to view the site on my handy without problems. From now on i will have to limit the amount of time I spend on Pprune.

Same here.

The site is simply unusable otherwise. Absolute disaster IMHO.

I can understand the need to raise some revenue but this is just crazy.

In what way do you mean? I am able to run normal, Infinite-Scroll-disabled on my desktop and mobile with IS on my phone.

We are working on resolving layout on iPad.

Go to usercp, edit options, disable infinite scroll.

I thought something had gone wrong with the site, but now realise that you have changed it...for the worse. Very, very slow, presumably because of the numerous annoying ads that are now cluttering up every available space.

As people are saying, it wasn't broken so why fix it, and I totally agree. Your changes are a backward step. Oh, and get rid of the ads. Thanks.

Can we consider this to be a trial (that failed), and that you will revert to previous in the near future?
