EasyJet Captain making a point or lacking initiative.
Stuck on an EasyJet flight at Manchester waiting for crew food to be delivered as an oven isn’t working. Knowing how long it can take food to be delivered airside is the Captain making a point about lack of company support or trying to make some other point. In my day I would have got off the aircraft and used the company credit card to buy something from an airside eatery.

easyJet don't have company credit cards. Where are you going? Don't forget they are going there and back. You need a bit more than a chocolate bar and a pack of crisps to sustain you.
|
Also where were they parked? Was there a fast food outlet close by?

And how much time would it take to get back into the terminal ... queue at an outlet with an order (for at least 2 sectors) for 4 CC and 2 flight deck crew ... plus a bag to carry it in ...plus different items for allergies and Capt and FO having different meals etc .... ESPECIALLY at Manchester!!

In my airforce years, I had a VC10 full of passengers sat waiting to taxi, because the captain wouldn’t depart until the caterers brought him a lemon for his tea.

That's a corking story Saintsman. RAF / BOAC ...

In the 70s the Trident 3 fleet was grounded due to cracks in the wings; many on the 1 and 2 fleets thought it was because of the fly them into the ground landing technique.
It left short haul, as BEA was now called, short of aircraft so they used BA VC10s on our routes. One of the first flights was delayed as the captain was presented with our s##t brown handleless Bakelite mugs - he delayed the flight until bone China crockery was sourced. Thought that was class and couldn’t wait to join them. |
Then there was the BA flat-earther who delayed push-back until his breakfast had been loaded. Forever known since then as “Breakfast” Cooper….

In 2013 a Pakistan Airlines flight was delayed by 2 1/2 hours because the Captain wanted a sandwich.
