A somewhat disingenuous presentation. Of the C$ 699.41 in miscellaneous extra charges, C$ 440 is a BA imposed charge - i.e. money that BA doesn't have to hand over to Govt or airport and which BA can treat as revenue
Thus of the C$ 700.41 price of the ticket... C$ 441 goes to BA as opposed to the apparent C$ 1 |
What is the c$440?

I flew with BA "the other way" last November, LHR-YVR return.
Doesn't look like I can now see the fare breakdown, but in general terms the taxes, surcharges etc seem to make up the bulk of the fare with very little being attributed by BA to the actual fare that is charged. It's a bit academic at the moment as BA are not flying to YVR due to covid and travel restrictions, us Brits cannot travel to the USA or Canada even if we wanted to and are clear of the dreaded disease |
'Fuel Surcharge' was one of the finest wheezes they ever dreamt up. Irrespective of what happened to the oil price. But - it was a good course of action as Pax were already making it clear that a low 'headline' price was required. Soon, everyone was going the same way. Even today (in the UK) fuel is sold as 0.1159 pence per litre. Obviously, they cannot charge in fractions of the curreny that have never existed, so that rounds up to 0.116 ppl but, apparently, that 'extra penny' per litre would turn some consumers away.
Likewise, it has been shown many times that SOME carriers were adding 'govt charges' etc to the price that govt was not charging. It will be interesting to see what happens to such charges in the next five years. |

Year. 115 point 9 Pence Per Litre or similar prices. Some advertise point 7 but, with rounding, it makes no never mind.
The fuel companies all moved from Gallons to Litres when the price per gallon was looking way too much, so the price per litre looked better! :} |
just before the avios deal the fare for bru-dxb r/t was about 350 euros, during & after the avios deals it is at roughly 600 euros.
I checked the flight loads for first week november, the plane seems empty but the prices jacked up. Can fly klm for 312 euros r/t for my dates in november. Ba 's it or revenue dept. are either too good or bad |
