Equipment on the field at DUB during high winds?

Landed DUB yesterday (EI A320) and noticed equipment (one truck) standing by near the runway. Remained in position as we trundled off toward the gate. Crew had announced high winds expected for our arrival; does DUB post equipment routinely then?

What "equipment" are you talking about exactly?

Quite a few airports put one fire tender on standby during strong crosswinds. They just have to sit there, fully kitted, keeping an eye on things to make a rapid initial response if it goes wrong, like it did at Stornoway this morning.

I wouldn't say routinely but an Aer Lingus pilot once told me that when there's a strong cross wind it can be occasionally hairy so probably just precautionary. It's my home airport and I'd say only two or three out of more than a hundred landings in the last decade were very bumpy.

I have seen fire crews on weather standby at a number of airports over the years, the first time I noticed was at Coventry.
