Which way to Jo'burg please?

I've been asked a hard question by young son doing school project...
Which way do the airlines fly to Johannesburg? Is it a simple great circle route or do they have to avoid any particular areas? If someone can give me a bit of "outbound into Amber 3 to FL35 blah blah etc" he will be well impressed!

I'll try and get a flight-plan for you on Monday. Basically over France, Libya, Sudan and straight down from there.
