South Africa Domestic Flights

Greetings all,

I know there are some experts on here with regard to South Africa.

My sister-in-law is travelling to RSA on 21st April and my son has got her the current requirements for the BA LH sectors, however what she is missing is are masks required on board domestic (Comair) services and does Comair require any test results? She has her Covid pass on her phone but she wonders whether that is sufficient for Comair. My son flies for BA and he isn't sure about this question.

Thanks very much,
Andrew

Current (as of today) regulations are that a mask must be worn indoors in all shops and places with people other than your family. Most places have a sign: No Mask - No Entry.

You wear mask through the airport, only exception is when they check your ID. On board you wear a mask 100% unless eating/drinking. This rule is made VERY clear by cabin crew as it is law of the land and applies to all airlines. we found that pax followed this 100%.

On the outbound BA sector, you also have to wear a mask as this is the law of the destination country.

HandyAndy Your timing was lucky as we had flown JNB-CPT a couple of weeks before.

Indeed lucky. Thanks again!

Having been back enough days to draw breath: on the return BA flight, we were expected to wear masks throughout. There was no annoucement about this but I asked a member of CC,
they confirmed that we had to. I have no idea how much this was maintained by pax across all cabins, in 'C' it was pretty much all mask wearing.

Upon arrival, most folks continued to wear masks at Passport control and whilst waiting for bags. It may be that a few weeks of compulsory mask wearing indoors had made it the default for visitors and more so for the SA locals.

Thank you Paxboy, I'll pass this on. Most grateful.

Yes, BA as at today are still showing on their website that if you are flying either to or from an airport that requires masks then they are also mandatory on the flight:

If you are travelling on our flights, you will be required to wear a mask on board if the destination you are flying to or from requires you to.
Do you need to wear a mask to travel?
