JFK-LAX widebody ?

Asking for a friend hoping to fly from NYC to LA, but fears the 6hr flight in a smaller gauge aircraft will leave then somewhat dishevelled before an important business meeting. Do any of the airlines still use large gauge aircraft anymore or has that now stopped ? Any pointers appreciated.

I think United and AA may well have WB flights - maybe DL too

Not sure if Cathay or Qantas still have any 5th freedom services - worth a look

Sadly not bookable if they do. I have the suspicion that all flights coast to coast are likely to be A321's or 737's for the main part with the odd 767 thrown in the mix. I last did the journey regularly in the mid 90's and then you'd feel hard done by if it was a 757! 747's, DC10's MD11's, L1011's was the order of the day. Mostly half full and you could stretch out on a whole middle row.

Just checked United and they have quite a few flights on 787-10 - what dates are you wanting

I 'think' friday or saturday in a week NOV 15/16

15 NOV schedules

AA only the A321Neo JFK

UA 787-10 777 and 752 from EWR

DL 767-300 from JFK on majority of flights

Thanks Rog, I'll pass it on, hope that it's helpful in their planning, much appreciated.

I'd venture to choose the right sized seat that they can afford, and then take the aircraft that has that seat. It does not matter if the a/c has three aisles, as you will be in the seat.

Come to that, good luck finding an aircraft that has 3 aisles. :O

I'm interested in knowing which airline that was. In all my travels on the top decks of 747s I have never come across three aisles. Or are you confusing aisles with seat sections across the width?

I think it was a joke relying on adding the upper deck aisle to the two on the main deck, to make a total of three.

It had me rolling in the aisles, anyway. :O

Sorry, I was exaggerating for effect. Should probably have said, "It does not matter if the a/c has 12 aisles, as you will be in the seat. :hmm:

I have been comfortable and uncomfortable in narrow and widebody. What counts is the size of the seat and your own dimensions.

... and the dimensions of the people next to you, and if they "ooze out" under the armrests into your seat space....

American operate a very nicely configured A321 on the route. They are particularly premium heavy to the extent that the economy cabin actually looks quite nice and select.
