Brain picking time again please.....

.....has anyone in here done the Tui/Thomson Gatters to Phuket direct in the 787? If so, what was the seating like? Premium seating? Overall impression?
Scratching around for where to get some winter sun - I'm pissed off with this winter. Any comments gratefully received.

Can I suggest the Air Travel Forum on Trip Advisor - quite a lot of information there.

For wowzz...

...thanks for that. I've had a look and floated my Q there. We'll see.

It's meant to be very nice and fairly good value for the money. There's videos on YouTube including video trip reports and the TUI website used to have a good section on it with all the details. It's as good as you're going to get going from Gatwick to Phuket without the hassle of changing somewhere.

Rossian,

The upgrade to premium on the Thomson 787 is well worth it, you won't regret it. Myself and Mrs Fynn have done it twice in the last 12 months UK-Barbados.

I found the air travel forum on tripadvisor to be a little outdated for TOM and nobody knew much about the new layouts etc on the 787's, plus there was so much old info it was difficult to get what I needed, so here's my 2 pence

I can't speak for the TUI 787's but assume it's the same however the Premium offering on the TOM 787's is a worthwhile upgrade. I flew BHX-CUN-BHX in August and loved it and would choose it again over standard.

My main reason was to get 2 seats without accommodating a stranger next my wife and I for 10 hours, why TOM have chosen 3-3-3 in Economy is beyond me. We flew the 763 to CUN previously and liked the 2-4-2 config. Typically the flights are full of couples or families of 4 (or more) and the 3-3-3 config makes this a little difficult on seat selection.

Food, crew, comfort and overall experience was fantastic.

If you do choose TOM premium and it is the 787 I would recommend seats 1 A&C or preferably G&J. There's loads of legroom and prior to what I've read the bulkhead doesn't contravene legroom, we were in 1 G&J outbound and it was more than ample. Avoid 7 A&C, there's no window. We were in a regular premium row (4 A&C) on the return and again this was just fine.

Used them last year to Costa Rica. Very good all round at great price and non stop. Upgraded at check-in for a good price. If all airlines/ flights were as good as we got with Thomson there wouldn't be much to complain about.

9 seats as opposed to 8 is the obvious and correct anwwer................ 12.5% more bodies

I had a bit of a brain fart on that one and forgot that the 763 is longer, hence more rows. Nevertheless it's a pain for the traveler but I guess most will put up with up...... It just means I'll have to keep paying for premium :)
