Last year, wife and I flew LHR-KL. Malaysian A.380. Four seats EACH to sleep across, both there and back. Lovely quiet flight, delightful Flight Attendants, longest long haul we've done, and by far the most comfortable. My wife was dreading it,[too long] but thoroughly enjoyed it.

The cabin pressure a B787 or A380 may achieve is different from what is actually set. Maintaining pressure between 6000 - 7000 ft is the norm because anything less puts additional stress on the airframe lessening the longevity of the aircraft.
So, hype aside, your A380 isn't pressurised much differently to your B747. It just can be. |
Recently flew with both the A380 and the 789 with the unmentionable airline, AUH-MEL with the A380 and PER-AUH with the 789. Both times in a window business seat, which is the same installation on both airframes.
I have to say i do prefer the A380. It is far more quiet, and of course more spacious as well. The additional stowage space in the sidewall alone is huge and i didn't have to use the overhead lockers at all. Only thing the 789 has that i would want on other planes as well are those huge windows, that still allow a limited outside view, even if fully dimmed down. |
Recently had my first A380 experience with SQ SIN-AKL, cattle class, middle of the centre row. I was not impressed. 3 out of 4 of the nearest toilets were u/s, and must have been for a while (this seems to be a perennial problem with the A380?). Pax asked to exercise 'restraint'! Mrs r1 then realised that the upper deck toilets were just above us, and she could hear every flush. Of course, that meant that I could from that point on.
This trip also included my first 789 trip as well with AirNZ. A bit more pleasant, but the seats are far more comfortable upright than in recline... |

That is unfortunate but does happen on all types of A/C. I have not noted that issue on an A380 I have been on yet, but it will no doubt occur. It is how the crew deal / manage the situation which then comes to the fore. The biggest "problem" I seem to have is the bar running out of Tonic water on the route from DXB - MAN,usually quickly followed by the Gin ! This despite the route (according to the crew's I have flown with) saying they have extra supplies up lifted, as it is a known regular shortage. Regards Mr Mac |
