Shock, Horror - A New Plane!

We've just had a great holiday touring around South America. Went out with Iberia, came back with BA.
The journey out (Biz class) was traditional Iberia - not enough visible staff, the ones that you could see being tired and/or grumpy, a tired old plane and Iron Age ent system.

We also had a number of internal flights, none of which were particularly good or bad.........although I did learn where second-hand Air Kiwi jets are sold off!!

Coming back from Rio, though, with BA was a real shock. The plane appeared to be brand new!! The ent system certainly was new - and everything worked first time!!

Willy's savings on the Legacy crew (LHR) must be paying off - he must have convinced the beancounters to buy some new kit.

It just doesn't quite fit the image of BA in my mind. A new plane!

I know!

this summer I & Mrs H boarded a new - as in they'd just taken the wrappers off - BA A320 to EDI from LHR

It smelt really nice .............................

presumablythat's what a Buisness jet is like.............................

Rio is one of the routes served daily with a 777-300ER. The oldest is only 4 years old and the newest is less than 6 months old. A wise choice sir!

Also it's a Mixed Fleet route - were the crew all young?

Despite what people think, BA do have plenty of new (<5 year old) aircraft. Sadly, with a fleet of over 250, there are always going to be a large number of ones >15!!!

I knew it was Mixed Fleet, as when we got on, the lady CC wore hats. A silly memory from reading all the BA Legacy crew dispute postings!..........and the CSM was a CSM, not a CSD!!

No, they were not all young. One man was quite mature. He was a bouncy, happy sort of mature, though.

One of the lady CC was delightful, but one of the others was having a bad day. Another one was clearly the comedienne of the crew.

Anyway, it made a change from the mainly battered and well-worn BA planes that normally carry me around in my retirement, (when I can afford them).
