I am looking at flights London to Tbilisi in Sept 2015
The best / most direct is on Ukraine airlines via Kiev
I will be taking out cancelation insurance as who knows what the situation will be like then!!
The 'safest' appears to be Turkish via Istanbull, routing to the south of Ukraine, over the Black Sea

Actually Money is not the prime mover, but the Turkish timings are arr 03.00 am!!

Atlasair from Luton and Pegasus from Stansted are options both via Istanbull

Any reasonable comments or thoughts or experiances please?

I've had only good experiences on Ukraine Airlines, but as you say, who knows what the situation in Ukraine will be in a year's time? Do you have to book now?

I usually use Turkish for travel to Georgia and Central Asia, as it offers the most options and flexibility if things go wrong or have to be changed for some reason.

If you do book on Ukraine and take out insurance, make sure it covers war and civil insurrection - many policies specifically exclude these.

Make sure your insurance covers the situation in Ukraine.
