Global Flight Paths
I'm struggling to find either artistic or scientific merit in this obviously quite dedicated exercise. To me it looks like a tarted-up version of one of those equally unreadable "route-maps" you find in in-flight magazines.

They use the term 'busiest' a number of times to mean that with the most destinations, rather than frequency of flights.
No longer supported is the Star Alliance screen-saver which gave you a variation on the theme. Does anyone know of anything similar? |
Possibly my eyes but I cannot see any flights from South America to Southern Africa countries or from Australia to South Africa.

Frequency may be a factor too. Neither of the routes you mention are daily.

it's an illustration of what you can do with data and is very pretty but it's not meant as an in-depth analysis of world aircraft schedules so let's not get bent out of shape on the details
