BA 747 on Moscow route

Do those SLF who travel this route think there is enough premium traffic to justify a four class 747?

It would seem a giant leap from a two class Airbus in European configuation to a high capacity longhaul configuation 747 or indeed 767.

Your thoughts.

It's a high capacity J cabin I believe so not as big an increase as you might think.

I believe Cairo is the shortest long haul flight and Moscow the longest short haul flight, if you see what I mean.

I thought a high capacity J 747 was one with lots of Club World sleeper seats - is there a brave new world with mickey mouse club seats on a 747?

Tel Aviv TLV is the shortest 747 route.

All 747s feature Introducing new Club World fully flat beds. This won't change.

BA don't fly 747s to TLV; they use the 767 and 777.

The Moscow route has long been BA's most premium passenger-heavy short haul route. There are a significant number of major corporates (finance, oil, etc) who fill the front cabins of the 767s currently used on what is without a doubt the highest-yielding European route for BA. However the standard of the 767 short-haul premium seats is poor, as has been the cabin service, in comparison to what obtains on Aeroflot nowadays, which has been the cause of much adverse criticism over recent years (there's a long-running thread by regulars on this specific route over on FlyerTalk about this), and BA have been in serious risk of losing their market.

It is surprising that BA went for a 747 rather than a 777, but presumably that's what they had available.

Presumably the cabbage pies in the Domodedovo lounge for these premium pax will be staying, though. :yuk:
