Milan airports to city centre

Thinking of taking a couple of days break in Milan with my wife. Choices are to fly into either airport. Which is easier to get into the city centre? Any idea of costs and also recommendations of good hotels that are not too expensive!

Milan (Milano) Linate is less than 10kms from the city centre, so that would be my choice, but a lot of the cheaper flights go to Malpensa which is approx 50kms from the city centre, but served now by a fast train. As to hotels etc, i'm out of the loop, but if you can hold off until the end of the month/august, then the choice will be large, the city empty, as the natives will be gone to the beach. Have fun!

Thanks

Thinking of going early August, so that is good news.

If you wish to view Leonardo's 'Last Supper', book tickets before you go, as it's often impossible to get in 'on the day'.
