I certainly can't argue with United's ranking.

Have avoided them for over a decade and it would take a family emergency and three bloody marys to get me back on a flight.

Diplome - I think that airlines can change. I used to avoid Continental for many years after a couple of experiences that proved that pax were in the way of the staff doing whatever they did. However, SWMBO went to the US with Continental recently and was full of praise...... Whether or not United can change that much, I have no idea.

The transformation of Continental is now a mgmt lesson. I have spoken of this before and the book is worth reading.

Whether United can change is to be seen. However, I doubt and for this reason: CO turned around because they had failed utterly. They were footsteps away from bankrupt - so they had no where else to go, it was up or out. United are not at the top and they are not at the bottom, so there the effort required to change is commensurately greater.

As it is for a large number of legacy carriers ...
