navigation ... how to read?

Alright, I'm stuck at the office after hours because I am such a good daughter and am going to pick my folks up at the airport. So I looked up their flight to amuse myself (odd things amuse me). What does this mean:

CALON V36 YVV J531 SSM 4900N 09000W YHD
J576 YDN YQV SHAWI

So far, I've figured out the NAVAIDS, but what is a 'FIX' (e.g., CALON, or is it CALON V36?) and 4900N?

Thanks!

CALON is a waypoint - ARINC convention is that waypoints have 5 letter / alphanumeric names. V36 is the code for an airway between CALON and YVV. The J351 is again a code for a jet route between YVV and SSM ( Saul Sainte Marie if memory serves me).

The route then continues from SSM DireCT(normally abbreviated as DCT) to latitude 49North longitude 90West thence direct, again, to YHD then by jet route J576 to YDN etc etc.

Indeed, tis the Sault. I've even been there. In fact, I've been to most of the towns affiliated with the navaids. Dryden is very exciting in the summer--mosquitoes the size of sparrows!

Thanks :ok:
