Ryanair Website Stoops to New Low.

Just went to have a look at flights for half term.

"CLOSING DOWN SALE! CELEBRATING OUR COMPETITORS CLOSING"

www.ryanair.com

:yuk::mad:

I'd rather stay at home in the rain.

BigBoeing 5th Sep 2008 16:16

Very true, spare a thought for all those losing jobs etc. However their advertising tactics aside, I need to get from Stansted to Glasgow in a few months, easyjet fairly expensive, train ridiculously expensive with added hassle of going through London, Ryanair £10 return all inclusive, paid with Electron card, no bags, no extra cost. Can't complain with their sale.

whiskeyflyer 5th Sep 2008 16:17

click on the Ryan 2009 calender sale link

Preorder calender BUT it states "2009 charity to be annouced shortly " (maybe its the fuel fund:E)

I have got to admit admiring MOL, when everybody else is moaning, he gets on with it. "When the going gets tough!..............."

flowy50 5th Sep 2008 16:22

closing down

Thats how sick ryanair are cloting over other airlines bad luck . never mind the worm will turn one day but mol would have done a runner by then.

B738bbjsim 5th Sep 2008 17:23

Competitor closing?

Has MOL got a crystal ball? Are they making predictions? The last airline I remember failing was Zoom and the nearest I recon RYR get to across the pond is the Emerald Isle!

AltFlaps 5th Sep 2008 17:55

O'Leary - you are SCUM

Johnny F@rt Pants 5th Sep 2008 18:21

Big Boeing,

The only problem is that FR:yuk: will drop you off at Prestwick:uhoh:, and by the time you've messed about getting the train:rolleyes:, and paid the rail fare:{ you've probably not had that good a deal:ugh:.

Der absolute Hammer 5th Sep 2008 18:25

Yes but there is this north country expression....

'Where there's muck there's brass'.

It is very good advertising and from the public view, probably very funny too.
Also, he promises more sales next year when another airline goes bust. Next time an airline does, the public will look to Ryan for another special deal.
It is very clever. The man is a manager not a pilot.

B738bbjsim 5th Sep 2008 18:35

New promotions on RYR website

Can't wait for Ryanair Hotels cheaper if you don't want a bed!

captjns 5th Sep 2008 18:35

Can't fault MOL for the demise of ZOOM or the BK of Alitalia. But business is business and it will be survival of the fittest.

Kempus 5th Sep 2008 18:42

PIK to Glasgow by train is rather cheap actually! Show your ticket and I think its under a tenner!

daz211 5th Sep 2008 19:32

For  sake you just dont get it do you !

If you ran a shop and another shop started selling the same things next door then it went out of business would you be happy .

If you had some chav living next door then they moved out
would you be happy .

So what is wrong with MOL celebrating .

763 jock 5th Sep 2008 21:28

Perhaps I don't get it! I work for a charter airline, bit I wouldn't celebrate the loss of other peoples jobs. I lost mine many years ago and remember it well.

The Prestwick to Glasgow journey is direct from the Terminal to the rail station and very cheap if you are flying. It can be quicker than fighting the M8 in from Glasgow Airport if you're going into Central Glasgow ! I am going home up to PIK next month on a free ticket, well I say free I had to pay £10 tax each way, so £20, well I say £20 it also costs £8 each way to pay by any means......so £36 which is pretty damned good considering.

Abusing_the_sky 6th Sep 2008 01:06

There's no honor amongst thiefs...

But then again, how many Ryanair (related) threads are on Pprune...?:D

Der absolute Hammer 6th Sep 2008 05:14

Look at it this way?
MOL is protecting the jobs of those who work for him.
They cannot leave Ryanair now, in today's market, so be grateful!
It is also very good advertising.

PAXboy 6th Sep 2008 11:59

If you complain about this particular advertising push of FR's then you have already helped MoL in his advertising push.

It also means that you have failed to understand how FR works. To say that they have changed the whole game is an understatement. If you don't like them, don't fly them. Oh yes, and don't repeat their advertising for them because they love it when everyone gives them free advertising!

JulietNovemberPapa 6th Sep 2008 13:03

My Big Boss doesn't know much about airlines - like almost everyone who flies - but he emailed me saying how he's going to book a flight as a part of FR's 'CLOSING DOWN SALE.'

daz211 6th Sep 2008 14:49

So its working then :ok:.
