LHR last night

Can anyone help ?

At about 1910 a Virgin A340 landed on 27R - (G VSEA) within seconds a full turn out of fire appliances (about 7) surrounded it before it had full left the active runway. It stayed motionless for about 50 minutes and the runway closed. It was eventually tugged off and 3 fire engines remained with it throughtout including when tugged away

Anyone know what happened ?

Yeah,

1 and a half hour outbound delays, grumpy pax and bl**dy late back from Paris AGAIN!

Gotta love Heathrow :{

You want to be asking this kind of question in the Spectator's Gallery forum. However, the 99% liklihood is that something might have been wrong and everyone took the normal precautions but nothing actually was wrong.

What went wrong was that the UK politicians have stuffedup the airport across so many years that even a routine delay like this brings go rounds and big delays. (end of rant)

VS came in with a problem with the undercarriage, subsequently they also damaged the runway on landing and got stuck at the end of 09L for about 50mins.
Ground start up delays rocketed to 90mins, inound holding delays rocketed to 48mins, all this with the controllers getting use to their shiny new tower.
However, must say sterling job done by ATC, as far as I'm aware no aircraft diverted and it all worked rather well. 09L opened about 2045ish and by 2115 ground delays beginning to reduce.

Well done to LHR ATC and the VS crew to that also.
